Local Action Groups Sign Agreements – EU Funding for Youth Clubs and Tailoring Workshops

Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme, local communities can obtain funding for a wide range of community activation initiatives. Support is distributed through grant competitions organised by Local Action Groups (LAGs). On 15 July, the “For the City of Toruń” Local Action Group will award grant agreements for projects aimed at engaging children and young people.

“Local Action Groups are partnerships created by residents, non-governmental organisations and local governments. Because they work closely with local communities, they are best placed to understand residents’ needs and identify effective ways to encourage community participation. The funding we allocate to LAGs supports many socially important initiatives,” said Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region.

On 15 July, the “For the City of Toruń” Local Action Group will present grant agreements supporting projects that enable young people to develop their interests through youth clubs and other educational activities.

One particularly innovative initiative will offer tailoring workshops, where participants will learn traditional sewing skills as part of a broader project dedicated to preserving disappearing crafts and passing on the knowledge associated with traditional professions to younger generations.

The total value of funding awarded for these projects exceeds PLN 676,000.

Across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, 27 Local Action Groups operate in both urban and rural areas. They manage funding from the Marshal’s Office as well as resources allocated under the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument.

By entrusting local communities with both financial resources and decision-making responsibility, the region has effectively created a participatory budget on a regional scale. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is the only region in Poland implementing the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) approach on such a large scale.
