Sonia Bohosiewicz unveils her star in Ciechocinek
The popular actress starred in the film “Excentrycy, czyli po słonecznej stronie ulicy”, produced in cooperation with the regional self-government of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. The story is set in Ciechocinek.
The film, directed by Janusz Majewski, was made in 2015 based on a novel by Włodzimierz Kowalewski. It was one of the first productions created in partnership with—and with financial support from—the regional self-government, even before the formal establishment of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Film Fund. The story takes place in the 1950s in Ciechocinek, with additional scenes filmed in Nieszawa and Toruń. The film premiered in early 2016 and received numerous awards, including the Silver Lions at the 40th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and four Polish Film Awards. The 2016 Eagles for Best Supporting Actor went to Wojciech Pszoniak and Anna Dymna. The cast also included Maciej Stuhr, Natalia Rybicka, Sonia Bohosiewicz, Wiktor Zborowski and Adam Ferency.
Sonia Bohosiewicz was the central figure of the ceremony held on Sunday, May 3, at the Ciechocinek Walk of Fame. Ten years after the premiere of the film, the popular actress and singer unveiled a star bearing her name. “Ciechocinek has something sentimental about it,” she said. “I feel great joy, gratitude, and pride, because it is truly a wonderful honor to have my own star here.”
In “Excentrycy…”, Bohosiewicz played Dr. Wanda Apanowicz, the sister of the main character Fabian (played by Maciej Stuhr), who, after returning from abroad, decides to start a jazz band—something that brings him trouble in the realities of communist Poland.
Previously, stars on the spa town’s promenade had already been unveiled by other creators and artists associated with the film, including Włodzimierz Kowalewski, Janusz Majewski, Wojciech Pszoniak and Maciej Stuhr.
