Helping Artists Spread Their Wings (Photos)

The regional self-government continues to support artists in bringing their creative projects to life. Today (16 July), fifteen musicians, visual artists and dancers received the Artistic Scholarships of the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region during a ceremony held at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Cultural Centre in Bydgoszcz. The scholarships were presented by Vice Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.

“By recognising representatives of various fields of culture, we highlight the richness of the arts while acknowledging the passion, talent and dedication of individual creators. For many years, we have proudly supported our artists and cultural animators in carrying out their creative projects. I am pleased that this support allows them to spread their wings,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Each year, the regional self-government organises two calls for applications for artistic scholarships. In this year’s second round, fifteen artists received support amounting to a total of PLN 120,000.

The largest number of scholarships was awarded to musicians, followed by visual artists, dancers, and one recipient working in the field of cultural promotion.

Scholarship applications were assessed by a committee composed of:

  • Jerzy Janczarski – Chair of the Scholarship Committee and Director of the Department of Culture and National Heritage;
  • Renata Derejczyk – Director of the Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń;
  • Cezary Nelkowski – Deputy Director of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz;
  • Łukasz Wudarski – Director of the Regional Centre for Cultural Animation in Toruń;
  • Martyna Majrowska – representative of the Department of Culture and National Heritage.

In the first edition of this year’s programme, scholarships were awarded to fifteen artists, with total funding of PLN 130,000.
