Ciechocinek: We Will Show How We’ll Save the Famous Pool

Marshal Piotr Całbecki invites everyone to an open meeting this Thursday (April 30) at the historic brine and thermal pool complex in Ciechocinek, currently being prepared for revitalization. During the event, the assumptions of the future investment and the functional program of the facility will be presented.

The seven-hectare pool complex—open toward the graduation towers and featuring restaurants, cafés, a children’s play area, a recreation zone, a beach, and a team sports field—was built in the early 1930s based on a design by Romuald Gutt and Aleksander Szniolis. It stood out for its scale, modernist style, and cutting-edge technical solutions of the time, including systems for supplying, draining, filtering, and diluting brine to achieve the desired salinity level. It quickly became an exclusive, even fashionable destination. Its opening in 1932 was attended by the President of Poland, Ignacy Mościcki.

In 2002, the facility was closed due to its poor technical condition and has since gradually fallen into disrepair. To save it, the regional government took over the site in January 2025, and preparatory work for the revitalization project is now underway.

We will carefully restore the complex to the form it had when it was built in the interwar period. Most likely, we will commission the design and technical documentation later this year. I believe the tender for construction will be announced toward the end of 2027. For now, we want to present what we are planning and what the resort—its residents and visitors—will gain once the complex reopens,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The meeting at the pool complex will take place this Thursday (April 30), starting at 10:00 AM. Entrance to the site is via al. Pojednania (main gate).
