Ciechocinek: this is how we will save the famous pool complex

Marshal Piotr Całbecki hosted an open meeting today (April 30) at the historic brine and thermal pool complex in Ciechocinek, which is currently being prepared for revitalization. During the meeting, the assumptions of the planned investment and the functional concept of the facility were presented.

The seven-hectare open-air pool complex—facing the graduation towers and featuring restaurants, cafés, a children’s play area, recreational zones, a beach, and a sports field—was built in the early 1930s based on a design by Romuald Gutt and Aleksander Szniolis. It stood out for its scale, modernist style, and state-of-the-art technical solutions of the time, including systems for supplying, draining, filtering, and diluting brine to the desired salinity level. It quickly became an exclusive and even fashionable destination. President of the Republic of Poland Ignacy Mościcki attended its opening in 1932.

In 2002, the facility was closed due to its poor technical condition and has since gradually fallen into disrepair. In order to save it, the regional self-government took over the site in January 2025, and preparatory work for the revitalization investment began.

“We will carefully restore the complex to its original form as it was built in the interwar period. Most likely, still this year we will commission the design and preparation of technical documentation. I expect that the tender for construction will be announced at the end of 2027,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
