Active Ageing with Support from the Marshal’s Office
Supporting projects that encourage older people to stay active is an important part of the Marshal’s social policy. This year, as part of a grant competition for the delivery of public tasks carried out on behalf of the regional self-government, funding will support 32 projects aimed at seniors. The initiatives will focus on a broad range of activities designed to promote social engagement, integration and active ageing.
“Seniors are an increasingly large part of our population. Almost one in three residents of our region is now aged 65 or over. As this group continues to grow, we are listening closely to their needs and regularly supporting initiatives that encourage older people to stay active and connected,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
A total of PLN 220,000 has been allocated for this purpose. The funding will support, among other things, the activities of senior clubs, exercise and other activities promoting an active lifestyle, as well as intergenerational music events.
The Arka Foundation from Bydgoszcz will carry out a project entitled “What Have We Got Left from Those Years? A Year with Mieczysław Fogg”. Seniors from Brodnica County will be able to take part in “Together Against Loneliness – Passions Have No Age”, organised by the Local Action Group Association of the City of Brodnica. Meanwhile, “Into Nature” is an environmental project to be delivered by the EKOinspiracja – Education and Ecology Association with the participation of seniors from Włocławek County.
NGO grants in numbers
- PLN 220,000 for projects supporting active ageing and social integration among seniors;
- 32 projects from across the region receiving funding under this competition;
- PLN 11,600 – the highest individual grant awarded in the competition;
- PLN 10 million allocated from the regional budget to support NGO projects across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region.
Every year, the regional self-government provides funding for projects carried out by non-governmental organisations in areas including culture, sport, addiction prevention and support, social assistance, healthcare, tourism and activities supporting people with disabilities.
This year, the total funding available for NGO initiatives is nearly PLN 10 million.
