Another Safer Roundabout to Be Built in Aleksandrów County
Over the coming years, 23 road junctions will be upgraded under the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region’s programme to eliminate hazardous locations on regional roads. A tender is currently underway for the construction of another roundabout in Ośno, on Regional Road No. 266. The project is the latest major road investment in Aleksandrów County.
“Safety is our top priority when modernising roads,” says Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. “As part of our extensive road investment programme, we are building new roundabouts, pavements, and illuminated pedestrian crossings. These projects are being financed with European funds.”

The project involves the construction of a three-arm roundabout designed to improve traffic flow for both local and through traffic while significantly enhancing road safety. The investment also includes the construction of long-awaited pavements and a shared pedestrian and cycle path for residents of Ośno and the surrounding area. To accommodate oversized vehicles, the roundabout will feature a truck apron on its north-western side, allowing abnormal loads to pass safely.
Additional works include installation of new street lighting, construction of drainage ditches, new access driveways to adjacent properties and pedestrian crossings and cycle crossings on the approaches from Służewo and Aleksandrów Kujawski, further improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The new roundabout will connect sections of Regional Road No. 266 that have already been modernised in recent years towards Aleksandrów Kujawski and Służewo. This route has also been the focus of one of Poland’s largest roadside avenue restoration projects. Last year, 440 trees were planted along the section between Zakrzewo and Ciechocinek, while mature trees lining the road have undergone specialist arboricultural treatment, including the removal of mistletoe.
Construction is expected to take approximately nine months after the contract is signed. The investment will be financed through the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme and forms part of the region’s road safety initiative, which includes the reconstruction of 23 hazardous junctions. A few projects are already completed:
- Roundabout in Sępólno Krajeńskie
