Addressing the participants, Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski stressed that investment projects financed through EFKP create infrastructure that brings lasting improvements to the region. Chair of the Regional Assembly Elżbieta Piniewska underlined that the region continues to pursue its key priority of ensuring balanced and sustainable development through the effective use of European Union funds.

“We present these agreements not behind closed doors, but at a public ceremony, because we have every reason to be proud of what we are achieving,” she said.

The largest grant – PLN 65 million – has been awarded to the Archaeological Museum in Biskupin, which is launching a major expansion and modernisation of its exhibition pavilion together with the creation of a new permanent exhibition presenting the heritage of Biskupin and the region through immersive storytelling, multimedia installations, interactive exhibits and multisensory experiences. The project also includes the construction of a large-scale aquarium. The total value of the investment is estimated at PLN 95 million.

A further PLN 24.5 million will support two projects carried out by the Municipality of Ciechocinek to enhance the historical character and recreational value of two of the town’s best-known green spaces – Tężniowy Park and Spa Park. The comprehensive revitalisation programme includes restoring the original historic layouts and modernising park infrastructure for visitors.

The cities of Inowrocław, Grudziądz and Toruń are also embarking on significant urban regeneration projects. Toruń will revitalise the municipal park in the Bydgoskie Przedmieście district, Grudziądz will convert a former department store into a community and cultural centre promoting social inclusion, while Inowrocław will carry out a comprehensive revitalisation of public spaces in its town centre.

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region continues to deliver the EFKP programme efficiently:

  • more than 70% of the programme funding has already been contracted;
  • 1,243 grant agreements have been signed, with a total value of PLN 5.5 billion;
  • the region ranks second among all Polish regions in terms of contracting programme funds;
  • and fifth nationwide in terms of expenditure certification.
