With congratulations and the Marshal’s Medal
More residents of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region – Ilonia Posadzy, Wanda Domżalska and Stanisław Wrzecionkowski – have joined the group of centenarians honoured with the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis.
Mrs Ilonia Posadzy (born on 7 April 1926 in Trojaczki, in Radziejów County) grew up in a large family with nine siblings. The war deeply affected her family – her father and younger brother were deported by Soviet troops and never returned home. Mrs Posadzy remained in Poland and devoted her life to Pieranie in Inowrocław County. There she started a family, raised two children and for many years was actively involved in the local community, supporting the school, parish and the rural housewives’ association. Today she is cared for by her daughter-in-law Wanda and her son Gerard. The President of the Regional Parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska, met with the jubilarian and presented her with the Unitas Durat Marshal’s Medal.
Among the honourees was also Mrs Wanda Domżalska, born on 8 May 1926 and originating from Wichowo in Lipno County. She grew up together with her two sisters in the family of Stefan and Stanisława Kawczyński. Her primary school education was interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War. During the occupation, she was displaced from her family home and forced to work on a farm taken over by the Germans. After the war, together with her husband Ryszard Domżalski, she built a family and raised three daughters. Throughout her life she devoted herself to managing the household, working on the farm and sewing. Today Mrs Domżalska is the grandmother of seven grandchildren and great-grandmother of twelve great-grandchildren. She is known as a cheerful, religious and kind-hearted person for whom family has always been the greatest value. The medal was presented to her by Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska.
Mr Stanisław Wrzecionkowski celebrated his 100th birthday on 27 May. He was born at the Karwosieki-Cholewice estate near Płock into a landed gentry family with strong patriotic traditions. The war years brought the loss of the family estate, displacement and the need to hide from the occupying forces. Despite these hardships, after the war he graduated from Szczecin University of Technology and later settled in Włocławek. For many years he worked as a designer and director of industrial plants, and after retirement taught mechanics to young people. Mr Wrzecionkowski is the father of two sons, grandfather of four grandchildren and great-grandfather of eight great-grandchildren. He is described as an open and warm-hearted person with a strong sense of humour and deep attachment to patriotic and family values. He received the Marshal’s Medal from Marek Wojtkowski – Member of the Regional Executive Board.
The regional self-government has been honouring centenarian residents of the region since 2018. More than five hundred people have received the Unitas Durat Medal to date. Families of residents who will soon celebrate their 100th birthday, as well as those already over one hundred years old, are encouraged to contact the office by phone at 56 62 18 344 or by email at stulatkowie@kujawsko-pomorskie.pl.
