Premiere of the sports documentary “Angels from Toruń”

The documentary series “Angels from Toruń”, set to premiere on January 12, presents the team, its players, the club’s owners, and shows how sport connects with business and how local governments support sport. The series was co-financed by the Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund.

“Angels from Toruń” goes beyond the classic story of a team fighting for league points. The 2024/2025 season was a special one for CUK Angels Toruń, as it was the first season after promotion to the First League. At the same time, it was played under the difficult conditions of a major reorganization, in which as many as four teams were to be relegated. It is a moment of truth: how to find one’s place in a world where every match can decide the future of the entire team.

Watching over the team is the club’s co-owner and one of the best volleyball players in the world, Wilfredo Leon, who supports the team not only with his name, but also with real commitment and faith in the people who create it. As he says in the film: Our club is now our woman, and we must protect her.

The creators of the series accompanied the team, observing this difficult season “from the inside.” They went where the public usually has no access. We get to know the players up close – their way of thinking, daily habits, and moments when determination proves more important than the score on the board.

This is not a story about tables and statistics, but about people – their ambitions, weaknesses, and the strength that is born in the most difficult moments. “Angels from Toruń” is a documentary about a team that is just learning to fly, says Lucyna Moskal, manager of the CUK Angels Toruń volleyball club.

The premiere of the documentary series “Angels from Toruń” will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Cinema City, Toruń Plaza Shopping Center, ul. Broniewskiego 90, at 7:00 p.m.
