“European Funds in Focus” – an award for our video spot
The results of the 16th edition of the “European Funds in Focus” video competition, held as part of the Camerimage Festival, have been announced. One of the winning trophies was awarded in Toruń.
The annual competition aims to exchange experiences among local government employees involved in implementing European funds and to promote good practices in communicating the social and economic benefits of EU funding. The organizers are Fundacja Tumult and the Marshal’s Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in Toruń.
In this year’s 16th edition, representatives from 11 voivodeships participated. The contest featured promotional videos strictly related to EU funds, in two time categories: up to 45 seconds and up to 3 minutes. Each institution could submit a maximum of four videos, two in each category.
In addition to the main awards and distinctions, audience awards and special awards for best cinematography were also presented.
The jury was led by Jan Majle – copywriter and creative director, assisted by Janusz Gauer – cinematographer, Sebastian Gojdź – European Commission official, and Małgorzata Siedlik – business trainer and entrepreneur.
On Thursday, 20 November, the award gala took place with the participation of Deputy Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.
The Marshal’s Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in Toruń achieved success by winning a special award for best cinematography for the video Scenes from Your Future Films, promoting the Kujawy-Pomorze Film Fund. The video highlights the region’s cinematic potential and encourages filmmakers to produce films in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship.
The Marshal’s Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship won three trophies. The 45-second video about seniors, Second Home, won the main award and the audience award. In the 3-minute category, the video Only Us, about people with disabilities, triumphed. Jury head Jan Majle commented: “I have never seen anyone portray people with disabilities so well, with dignity, and at the same time in a humorous way.”
In the same category, the video Tyle wygrać submitted by the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship in Poznań won both the audience award and a special jury distinction.
Two trophies also went to the Mazowieckie Voivodeship for the videos Utopiec (best cinematography) and Life with European Funds (distinction).
According to the jurors, the contest confirmed that videos about European funds can be dynamic, emotional, and memorable, combining information with artistic value.
Special guests at the gala included the cast and creators of the romantic comedy Piernikowe Serce, filmed in Toruń with financial support from the Kujawy-Pomorze Film Fund, managed by the regional government. The film will be released in Polish cinemas from 28 November.
