Empik Bestseller Goes to “The Good Home”

The regional self-government of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is a partner of Wojciech Smarzowski’s high-profile film.

On Tuesday evening (February 24), the winners of the popular Empik Bestsellers were announced for the 27th time. These annual awards are presented to creators in several categories: books, music, film, and audio. Winners in each category are determined by sales results across the Empik network. The awards thus summarize the past year in culture and recognize the most popular artists and works that audiences were most eager to purchase.

In the “Polish Cinema” category, five films were nominated, three of which were sequels well-known to Polish audiences: Piepzyć Mickiewicza 2* by Sara Bustamante-Drozdek, Teściowie 3 by Jakub Michalczuk, and Vinci 2 by Juliusz Machulski.

The 2025 Empik Bestseller was ultimately “The Good House” directed by Wojciech Smarzowski. The regional self-government of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is a partner of the film, and its production was co-financed from our Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund. It was the most-watched Polish title of the past year, with nearly 2.5 million viewers in cinemas. Screenings sparked a surge of interest in the issue of domestic violence and ignited a nationwide discussion. The film was produced by the Bydgoszcz-based company Lucky Bob, with executive producers and co-producers also from our region. The Good House received as many as 13 nominations for the prestigious Polish Film Awards – the Eagles, and Wojciech Smarzowski received the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Film Award named after Pola Negri in October last year.

In the second film category, “Family Cinema,” the 2025 Empik Bestseller was the Disney animated feature “Zootopia 2” directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, a sequel to the popular 2016 film.
