Youth parliamentary session and awards for distinguished individuals

On 30 June, the Marshal’s Office hosted the 7th session of the 2nd term of the Youth Parliament, during which young people honoured Monika Dąbrowska and Radosław Urbański from the Parliament Office with the title of Distinguished Service to the Youth Parliament of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship. Elżbieta Piniewska, President of the Regional Parliament, who also participated in the session, congratulated the honourees.

The first resolution honoured Monika Dąbrowska, head of the office of the President of the Regional Parliament. The justification reads, among other things: “Through her actions, Ms Monika Dąbrowska has made a significant contribution to the council’s initiatives, supporting civic activity and the development of young leaders in the region. Thanks to her commitment, projects implemented by young people have gained wide publicity and real support, and their impact extends beyond local communities. The youth councillors also appreciated the support, kindness and willingness to help shown by the winner.

Radosław Urbański from the regional council’s service office was also honoured for his contribution to the development of the youth regional council: “In many situations, Mr. Radosław showed initiative and readiness to act, regardless of the time of day or the nature of the matter. Often, despite his many other tasks, he found time to advise, point the way forward or simply offer words of support.

Both Monika Dąbrowska and Radosław Urbański have been involved in activities for the development of youth representation in the region since the inception of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship youth council. Not only did they work in recruitment committees, but they also supported (and continue to support) youth councillors in organisational and substantive matters.

I would like to congratulate the award winners, who are also my colleagues. It is encouraging that together we can support you, young councillors, and facilitate the implementation of your ambitious plans. Our cooperation, especially now, in the Year of Children and Youth, encourages us to take action for your peers – the young residents of our region. In this way, we are investing in the future – an active, aware and responsible society,” summarised Elżbieta Piniewska, chairwoman of the regional council.

During the second substantive part of the meeting, the councillors adopted a number of important resolutions, including amendments to the Regional Council’s Rules of Procedure and the composition of its committees. It was also decided to begin work on amending the Statute and Rules of Procedure of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Youth Parliament.

The Regional Parliament elected Ms Martyna Makowska as its representative to the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Education Council and gave its support to the candidates for the third term of the Council for Dialogue with the Young Generation. An appeal was also adopted to increase the safety of children and young people during the summer holidays.

The second term of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship Youth Council is now behind us.

It was a time full of challenges, joint activities and the involvement of young people from across the region. Over the last twelve months, young people have shown that their voice can have a real impact on reality.

What has been achieved during this year:

  • seven sessions were held,
  • on the initiative of the youth council, the Year of Children and Youth in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship was established,
  • a Student Round Table was organised, creating a space for discussion about the school of the future,
  • numerous social campaigns were conducted, including a collection for children’s homes,
  • youth members were represented at important events: the Welconomy Forum, Przystanek JP2, Bezpieczny Horyzont, Arlekinada, the Regional Local Government Knowledge Competition, environmental conferences and many others,
  • councillors participated in talks in preparation for the European Youth Conference (EUYC 2025).

It was a year of action, effectiveness and community, and we have more challenges ahead of us.

We would like to thank all councillors, supervisors and partners for their active participation and commitment.
