Students Invited to Participate in the “They Shaped Our History” Contest
Students in grades VI, VII, and VIII of primary schools, as well as high schools, technical schools, and vocational schools in our region, are invited to participate in the contest “They Shaped Our History.” Written submissions on topics related to contemporary history will be accepted until March 17. “Participating in this contest is an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge of our region’s history and to record local stories based on eyewitness accounts, as well as photographs and memorabilia preserved in family and public archives,” encourages Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
We are looking for individually prepared, previously unpublished written works, created under the guidance of a teacher, focused on one of the following topics:
- About People
- About Events
- Family Album
- Faces of Everyday Life
- Participation and Role of Residents of Kujawsko-Pomorskie in Contemporary Events
- Aid to Jews Provided by Poles During the German Occupation in World War II
- My School and My Teachers
Submissions will be evaluated in two age categories: students in grades VI–VIII of primary schools and students of high schools, technical schools, and vocational schools.
Prizes:
Attractive prizes have been prepared for winners in both categories:
- 1st place – 2,000 PLN
- 2nd place – 1,600 PLN
- 3rd place – 1,200 PLN
Prizes will also be awarded to the teachers who supervised the winning entries.

Patron of the Contest:
Elżbieta Zawacka, distinguished educator and social activist, Brigadier General of the Polish Army, soldier of the Home Army during World War II, Warsaw Uprising participant, courier of the Home Army to the Supreme Commander in London, the only woman among the Cichociemni (elite parachute-trained operatives), and a post-war prisoner under Stalinism.
