XIII Marshal’s Charity Ball

A painting by Julian Fałat, a graphic design by Łukasz Simlat, a dress by Aleksandra Popławska, and a hockey stick by Anton Svensson are just some of the items that will be auctioned during the XIII Marshal’s Charity Ball on Saturday, January 18. The event will take place at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Center in Toruń. The main beneficiaries are the Special Educational Center of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Grudziądz and the Foundation for Dorota Targowska and Her Friends, Dorotkowo, in Toruń.

 

“Thank you to everyone who accepted the invitation to the Marshal’s Charity Ball, organized since 2010. So far, we have managed to raise over 3 million PLN, which we have donated to organizations supporting people with disabilities, as well as those in need beyond Poland’s borders,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki during today’s (January 14) press conference. He was accompanied by Edyta Macieja-Morzuch, Director of the Promotion Department, and Jerzy Grochowski, Director of the Executive Board Management and HR Department.

 

A total of 150 items will be auctioned at the ball. These include:

  • A 1920 gouache painting by Julian Fałat
  • An evening gown designed by Katarzyna Zapała and donated by actress Aleksandra Popławska
  • A pen with an inkwell donated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk
  • A painting by Maria Koli depicting a scene from the movie The Peasants, donated by the artist
  • A graphic design specially created for the ball by actor Łukasz Simlat
  • A hockey stick from Anton Svensson, the goalie of the Energii Toruń hockey team
  • Additionally, the auction will include a book with a signature by Robert Małecki, Zapadlina, along with a special dedication to be featured in the entire edition of the author’s upcoming unpublished book. Guests can also bid on a dinner with Wojciech Fibak.

 

Beneficiaries of the XIII Marshal’s Charity Ball

The primary beneficiaries are:

  • The Special Educational Center of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Grudziądz, which supports 43 boys with intellectual disabilities aged 6 to 24.
  • The Foundation for Dorota Targowska and Her Friends, Dorotkowo, which aids the treatment and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, particularly those with Down syndrome, and assists their families.
  • Traditionally, part of the funds will also go to beneficiaries of previous editions and international missions.

 

Event Details

The star of this year’s ball will be Natasza Urbańska, who will perform with her band and dancers. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Eliasz Orchestra from Bydgoszcz and the Pomeranian Philharmonic String Quintet. Additionally, performances will be given by the Ziemia Bydgoska Song and Dance Ensemble and the Military Orchestra from Bydgoszcz. Notable guests include actor Andrzej Seweryn, singer Robert Janowski, and director Jerzy Skolimowski. A total of 430 people will participate in this XIII edition of the ball.
