WIC Kujawy Pomorze 26: Together We’re Creating the World Championships! (Photos)

Nearly five hundred volunteers will take part in the most important athletics event in the world, which our region will host in just two months. On Saturday (17 January), a training and integration meeting was held at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Arena Toruń. Marshal Piotr Całbecki attended the event. The Kujawy Pomorze 26 Indoor World Championships (WIC) will take place on 20 – 22 March.

“Volunteers are the foundation of every major sporting event,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “The Kujawy Pomorze 26 Indoor World Championships are the biggest athletics event in the history of the region. We will build its success together – as one big team, where everyone has their place, responsibility and real influence on the final outcome. I am convinced that together we will create championships that will remain in the memory of participants and fans for a long time, and for volunteers they will become a source of pride and unforgettable experiences.”

The volunteers took part in, among other things, occupational health and safety training and first aid training. They met the team working on organising the championships and became familiar with the scope of tasks in the individual groups.

During the Marshal’s Charity Ball, a WIC voucher will be auctioned, including, among other things, two VIP tickets for a competition session and an honorary role during one of the official athlete medal ceremonies. See: It will be a ball for 250 couples!

The last batch of tickets for the March event is currently on sale. Purchase page: www.ebilet.pl

The 100-day countdown to the WIC began with the ringing of the Tuba Dei bell. This was done by sprinter Marika Popowicz-Drapała, pole vaulter Paweł Wojciechowski, and WIC ambassadors – combined events athlete Adriana Sułek-Schubert and pole vaulter Piotr Lisek. They were joined at the tower of the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist by long jumper Anna Matuszewicz, and high jumpers Mateusz Kołodziejski and Mikołaj Szczęsny.
