World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26: The Final Stretch of the Championship Relays

The Indoor World Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26, the most important athletics event of the season, is just 8 days away. So far, our relay has visited 42 towns, sports clubs, schools, and local communities, showcasing the diversity of sport in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region. Yesterday (11 March), we met at interschool competitions in Dobrzyń nad Wisłą in Lipno County, and today (12 March) we are in Borzymin, Rypin County. WIC Kujawy Pomorze 26.

I would like to thank all residents, athletes, coaches, schools, clubs, and local communities for actively participating in our relay. Every meeting, every symbolically passed baton, and every form of activity contributes to a coherent story about a region that is responsible, active, and conscious about the health of its residents. Thanks to your commitment, sport in our region demonstrates its strength and diversity,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “I also invite everyone to cheer together – both at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń and in the fan zone at Toruń’s New Town Market Square. Together, we are creating these championships!”

50 Relays of Kujawsko-Pomorskie is a series of events organized during the fifty days leading up to the Indoor World Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. As part of the initiative, trainings, tournaments, and sports activities were held in 24 disciplines, including the most popular: athletics, volleyball, football, futsal, handball, basketball, kayaking, boxing, and field hockey, as well as boccia, winter swimming, floorball, table tennis, badminton, judo, skiing, and chess. Fitness activities also attracted great interest, including Kangoo Jumps workouts, general fitness, and gymnastics sessions.

Each meeting was an opportunity for collective physical activity, integration, and the promotion of an active lifestyle. Both athletes from local clubs and amateurs, children and youth, as well as entire families and seniors, participated in the initiative. The relay baton, symbolically passed between 50 municipalities, covered a total of 6,100 kilometers. Photos from all stops, attended by a total of 5,000 participants, will be displayed on boards along Królowej Jadwigi Street (from Empik to the fan zone) on the day of the opening (20 March).

  • 13 March – dance sessions in Piotrków Kujawski, Radziejów County
  • 14 March – wheelchair rugby in Bydgoszcz
  • 15 March – plogging in Osie, Świecie County
  • 16 March – general fitness training in Białe Błota, Bydgoszcz County
  • 17 March – family tournament in Trzebcz Szlachecki, Chełmno County
  • 18 March – training in Grudziądz
  • 19 March – running event in Radziejów

The initiative will conclude with the championship parade in Toruń on 20 March at 3:30 p.m., featuring children and members of sports clubs (starting from the New Town Market Square and ending at the Old Town Market Square). At 4:00 p.m., the opening concert will take place, featuring Dawid Kwiatkowski, Ray Wilson, and Gromee. Admission is free.
