“The World Athletics Indoor Championships will bring us many sporting emotions, but they are also an opportunity to meet champions who have written a beautiful history of this discipline through their achievements. I am pleased that here in Kujawy and Pomorze we can host the most important figures of world athletics. We want them to get to know our region well and visit many interesting places. I wish everyone an enjoyable stay in our region,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

World Athletics is the organisation that brings together national athletics federations from around the world. • setting strategic plans, rules and regulations,
  • establishing the competition calendar,
  • developing training guidelines,
  • appointing referees and officials,
  • selecting host cities for athletics events,
  • monitoring the global development programme of athletics.

Members of the World Athletics Council visiting the region will also tour Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Chełmno.

Sebastian Coe will also take part on Saturday (21 March) in the ceremonial handover of exhibits to the Museum of World Athletics at Toruń Plaza. The event will begin at 3:00 p.m., and the exhibition can be visited until Sunday (22 March).

The World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 will begin on Friday (20 March). Over three days, 700 athletes from 120 countries will compete at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń.
