WOAK sets trends

For fifty years, the doors of the Voivodeship Centre for Cultural Animation have stood open to creators and animators of cultural life. – Thank you for what you are doing for the culture of Kuyavia and Pomerania,” said Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski at today’s (13 May) anniversary gala. The institution of merit for the artistic life of the voivodship was awarded the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis. The President of the Regional Parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska, and the Vice-Governor, Michał Koniuch, also took part in the ceremony.

WOAK sets trends and shows goals that are worth achieving. The young team has ideas and does not see glass ceilings above them. It acts without considering what may limit it, and this is very important in cultural activity,” emphasized Deputy Marshall Zbigniew Ostrowski in his speech.

There is no better summary of the jubilee than a reference to the slogan ‘I like being here!’ – supplemented the President of the Regional Parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska.

On the occasion of the jubilee, awards were received by long-standing members of the WOAK team: Danuta Lemanik, Marzenna Szymecka, Kamil Hoffmann, Marek Kantorski and Henryk Marynowski. During the ceremony, a film was presented and a photographic exhibition documenting the centre’s fifty years of activity was opened. Participants in a panel discussion discussed the future and significance of regional cultural centres.

In operation since 1975, the Voivodeship Centre for Cultural Animation (WOAK) realises and co-organises, among other things, the National Greenhouse Film Festival, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Cultural Animation Awards Golden Mills, the “Women Builders in Kuyavia and Pomerania” project, Universal Art Design and the Kujawsko-Pomorski Cultural Congress. Also operating under the aegis of WOAK are the Akryle Visual Arts Group, the Vabank Orchestra, the Flesz Photographic Group, the Copernicus Male Choir, the Young Theatre and the Supełek Club.
