Wishing you health, happiness, and peace of mind
Irena Marta Chechła, originally from Sierosław (Świecie County), celebrated her 100th birthday. Her life story is a testament to strength, humility, and love, which – according to the centenarian – she draws from deep faith and daily prayer. Mrs. Irena was honored with the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis, which she received from the hands of Regional Councillor Jarosław Katulski along with congratulations and best wishes.
“May the kindness you share with others return to you, strengthened by the care, warmth, and attention of your loved ones. May each day bring joy, love, and support,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Mrs. Irena was born on May 31, 1925, in Sierosław, into the Błażejewski farming family. Her childhood was filled with helping on the farm, studying, and play. This carefree time was interrupted by the outbreak of war; the difficult years of occupation brought forced resettlement. Fortunately, Mrs. Irena was able to spend that time alongside her loved ones. After the war, she married Tadeusz Chechła from Iwiec (Tuchola County). Together, they ran a farm and raised five children.
Mrs. Irena remains cheerful and active. She prays daily, is interested in literature, exercises her memory, and enjoys watching TV series. She loves nuts and – as her loved ones emphasize – continues to care deeply for the well-being of her children and grandchildren.
Today, she is a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother – her family includes thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
The regional self-government has been honoring 100-year-old residents of the region since 2018. Families of residents who are nearing their 100th birthday, or are older, are encouraged to get in touch at: +48 56 62 18 344 or via e-mail: stulatkowie@kujawsko-pomorskie.pl
