Winter break 2026 without boredom – suggestions from our cultural institutions

On 2 February, students from Kujawsko-Pomorskie will begin their long-awaited winter holidays, which will last until 15 February in our region. This is a time when you definitely should not be bored, so we encourage you to take advantage of the classes and workshops prepared for this time by the Marshal’s cultural institutions. Below are the first suggestions for activities during the winter holidays. They have been prepared by two institutions in Toruń: the Gallery and Centre for Children’s Artistic Creativity and the Ethnographic Museum.

The Gallery and Centre for Children’s Artistic Creativity in Toruń invites you during the holidays to:

  1. Art workshops at the main headquarters at 17 Nowomiejski Market Square

classes from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

age of participants: from 5 years old

  1. Art workshops at the branch in Młyn Kultury at ul. Kościuszki 75-77

classes from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

age of participants: 5 years and older

The topics of the workshops include:  ‘My grandfather’s scarf and hat’; ‘Winter ascent of K2’;

‘Shiny things flying off the roof’; ‘Ice palace’. Participants will create works and spatial objects using various artistic techniques. The first classes will be held on 2 February, and the number of places is limited.

  1. Multimedia workshops on stop-motion animation at the branch in Młyn Kultury at 75-77 Kościuszki Street

classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for three days: 9, 11 and 13 February (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

age of participants – from 10 years old

The Ethnographic Museum in Toruń offers the following for the upcoming winter break:

  1. Creative classes for individual participants dates: 4th and 11th February (Wednesdays) and 6th and 13th February (Fridays), 11am-1pm

age of participants – from 7 years old (under adult supervision)

Duration: approx. 2 hours

Cost: PLN 30 per person/1 class or a pass for a series of 4 classes – PLN 100

Creative classes for children, teenagers and adults. Participants will learn various handicraft techniques. During the workshops, they will have the opportunity to design and create their own Christmas nativity scene (4 February), felt puppets (6 February), photo frames (11 February) and a small weaving project (13 February).

The museum’s interesting proposals for groups of participants during the winter holidays include:

  • The museum as a panacea – a meeting at the exhibition for participants over 55 years of age,
  • Seasons in the countryside: winter – sensory activities for groups with special needs,
  • An encounter with Polish folk culture – a recreational and educational event for foreign language groups (conducted in English).
