Wieniec Kronenberg – Future Regional Cultural Institution

It’s now official: the regional self-government is starting work on the comprehensive revitalization of the Kronenberg Palace complex in Wieniec, Włocławek County, to transform it into a future cultural and educational center. The plans include a representative concert hall, a professional recording studio, workshop rooms, as well as a small hotel area and restaurant-café facilities. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Centre for Education and Innovation, entrusted with overseeing both the investment and the program for the future regional cultural institution, has already announced a tender to select the contractor for the project documentation.

“Our goal is to create a place that combines the Kronenberg heritage — financiers and entrepreneurs, philanthropists, generous patrons of culture and education — with modern, innovative culture, art, and education. A place for cultural events, important community gatherings, creative workshops, and leisure. We want it to serve the regional community and our visitors well and to be vibrant all year round,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Wieniec Kronenberg is an eclectic 19th-century palace inspired by the Italian Renaissance, complemented by a neo-Gothic so-called Old Manor and an 8-hectare park. After the pre-war owners were expropriated, the site served for many years as a sanatorium and later as a pulmonary hospital. The current revitalization project, which is now beginning, will partially restore the historical layout of the representative interiors and create spaces for concerts, exhibitions, theatrical performances, as well as art workshops and educational and science-popularizing events.

The announced tender, prepared and managed by the regional self-government-owned company Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Investments, is expected to select the contractor for the comprehensive project documentation for the renovation, reconstruction, and adaptation of the complex for the needs of the future cultural institution. The documentation is to include all administrative decisions and permits necessary to start the investment. It is expected to be submitted to the regional authorities by the end of next year.
