INFORMATION PORTAL OF THE MARSHAL'S OFFICE OF THE KUJAWSKO-POMORSKIE Region IN TORUŃ

A two-day (3-4 March) annual conference on major economic, social and political issues in Poland, Europe and the world has begun in Toruń. During today’s opening session, whose theme was the Polish Presidency of the European Union, participants were welcomed by Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Welconomy is traditionally attended by politicians, local government officials, representatives of the scientific and business communities and third sector institutions from all over the country. The opening session was also attended by, among others, the Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrzej Szeja, as well as representatives of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship government, Elżbieta Piniewska, president of the regional parliament, Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski, Dariusz Kurzawa, a member of the regional board, and Marek Wojtkowski, a member of the regional board.

A separate group of conference topics includes issues related to the countryside and agriculture. Among the issues discussed was the construction of biogas plants as an opportunity for rural development.

The organiser of the forum since its inception has been the Association of Integration and Cooperation. The regional government has been the main partner for years.
