Welcome back after the holidays!

Nearly 337,000 students in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region are returning to school today after the summer break, accompanied by more than 47,000 teachers. The new school year was inaugurated across the region. In Łążyn (Toruń County), a highlight of the celebration attended by Marshal Piotr Całbecki was the naming of the local primary school after the Polish Nobel Laureates.

“I am convinced that you made good use of the past two months, and now, enriched with new experiences, filled with positive energy, with open minds and smiles on your faces, you are entering the new school year. It is a time of new opportunities and chances, which—when recognized and wisely used—can bring much good,” reads the letter from Marshal Piotr Całbecki, which was delivered to schools throughout the region.

Education in numbers

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region has about 700 primary schools, nearly 230 general secondary schools (licea), and almost 300 technical and vocational schools. The largest group of students—over 143,000—attend primary schools. Meanwhile, 87,600 young people are enrolled in post-primary schools.

Almost 47,000 teachers are employed in educational institutions across the region, more than 25,000 of whom hold the rank of chartered teacher.

Scholarship opportunities

For years, the regional government has supported talented and hardworking youth. Applications for scholarships in the “Top Students of Pomorze and Kujawy II” and “Vocational Talents of Kujawy and Pomorze” programs are open until September 30. The best students may receive up to 5,000 PLN annually.

We also teach entrepreneurship

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Loan Fund, operated by the Marshal’s Office, is launching a financial education project for vocational school students, university students, and young entrepreneurs. The program includes school workshops, a mentoring program, and one-on-one meetings with advisors who will help guide participants in taking their first steps in business. They will teach business and support young entrepreneurs.

At the same time, the project “Career Direction – Profession” is being launched. It will support 6,000 students from 110 schools in choosing their future career paths. The program, co-financed by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze and valued at over 5 million PLN, will also include raising the qualifications of 120 career counselors, homeroom teachers, and school pedagogues.
