Weekend with culture

Today (June 5) and tomorrow (June 6), at the 29th International Theatre Festival Kontakt, you can see “Loneliness of the Cotton Fields” directed by Timofey Kulyabin, starring John Malkovich and Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė in the lead roles. The program features twelve competition performances, as well as meetings with the creators, screenings, and concerts. The event, organized by the Horzyca Theatre, is financially supported by the regional self-government. The festival will conclude on Friday (June 6) with the announcement of results and awards ceremony.

 

During the concert celebrating the Regional Holiday, the Symphony Orchestra of the Pomeranian Philharmonic, conducted by Maciej Tworek, will perform compositions by Roman Czura, Piotr Moss, Krzysztof Penderecki, Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, and Maurice Ravel. The concert will take place at the Pomeranian Philharmonic on Friday (June 6).

 

For the Regional Holiday, we have prepared many interesting musical events.

 

The gala of the Kazimierz Hoffman Poetry Prize will be held on Saturday (June 7) at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Cultural Centre in Bydgoszcz. The competition jury will select the best poetry collection of 2024. The winner will receive the KOS statuette and a prize funded by the regional self-government.

 

The Merry Widow directed by Jerzy Jan Połoński returns to the stage of Opera Nova, with performances running from Thursday (June 5) to Sunday (June 8).

 

At the Musical Theatre in Toruń, throughout the weekend (June 6–8), you can see “Parisian Evening” directed by Tomasz Valldal-Czarnecki.

 

The Chopin Center in Szafarnia invites you to a piano concert by Natalia Zaleska. The pianist will perform works by Bach and Chopin on Saturday (June 7).
