
Weekend with culture
For the youngest residents – the Pozytywka Festival, for fans of the moving image – the Przeźrocza Festival, and for music lovers – Philharmonic under the Stars. We invite you to cultural events across the region.
This Friday (August 29), in front of the Pomeranian Philharmonic, a special concert Philharmonic under the Stars will take place as the Prelude to the 63rd Bydgoszcz Music Festival Contrasts. The Symphony Orchestra and pianist Bartłomiej Wezner, conducted by Maciej Tworek, will perform works by Mozart, Wagner, Beethoven, and Dvořák. The inauguration of the Bydgoszcz Music Festival Contrasts will be held on Friday (September 12).
The Pomeranian Philharmonic also invites audiences on Saturday (August 30) to the open-air concert Roads to Freedom, directed by Maciej Puta, marking the 45th anniversary of the August Agreements. The program includes works of classical music – Strauss, Verdi, Moniuszko – as well as contemporary music by Jacek Kaczmarski, Marek Jackowski, and Marek Grechuta, complemented with passages from the Holy Scriptures and poems by Asnyk, Wyspiański, and Kraszewski. The performers will be the Symphony Orchestra of the Pomeranian Philharmonic and the Opera Nova Choir under the direction of Maciej Tworek, along with soloists.
Iga Lis’s film Baltic will open (August 30) the 11th edition of the Przeźrocza Film Festival at the Żnin Sugar Factory. During the event, the Kujawsko-Pomeranian Voivodeship Film Award will be presented to Daniel Olbrychski. The program includes competition screenings, showings of Polish film classics, and a gathering of fans of David Lynch’s work. The festival, whose main partner is the regional self-government, will last until Saturday (September 6).
The Pozytywka Culture Foundation invites audiences to the ninth edition of the Magical Festival of Fairy Tales and Stories Pozytywka, which begins today (August 28) in Bydgoszcz under the Honorary Patronage of Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. During the four-day festival (through August 31), young audiences and their parents will take part in performances, workshops, and concerts prepared by artists from around the world.
The summer season at the Horzyca Theatre concludes with a youth theatre production developed during summer workshops – The Girls of Alcatraz, directed by Dariusz Starczewski. Premiere on Saturday (August 30) on the backstage stage.
On Sunday (August 31), at the Chopin Centre in Szafarnia, the Holidays with Chopin series concludes with a concert by the Filip Wojciechowski Trio: Filip Wojciechowski (piano), Paweł Pańta (double bass), and Piotr Biskupski (drums).
