We generously support the Bydgoszcz Film Song Festival
The regional self-government is a patron of the second edition of the Film Song Festival in Bydgoszcz, scheduled for early January (7–11 January). Today’s (2 December) press conference of the event’s organizers at Opera Nova was attended by Deputy Marshal of the Region, Zbigniew Ostrowski.
“Since the previous edition showed that this is a valuable event and was extremely well received by the audience – including television viewers – we have decided to support the festival even more strongly this year than we did last year. The allocation of substantial regional budget funds also results from the fact that we are investing heavily in building our region’s film brand. (…) Every year we organize the musical ‘Island of Cinema’ in Bydgoszcz, but this festival, set in the scenic surroundings of Opera Nova, has a completely different dimension,” emphasizes Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.
Last year’s first edition of the festival was a considerable success. It featured 150 artists, including Stanisław Soyka, Edyta Bartosiewicz, Ralph Kaminski, Krzysztof Zalewski and Ania Karwan. Two concerts broadcast in prime time by TVN were watched by over one million viewers.
TVN viewers will also be able to watch two festival concerts in the new edition – a rebroadcast of the 10 January concert, featuring Igor Herbut, Krzysztof Zaleski, Czesław Mozil and Sara James performing songs from films and TV series, and a live broadcast of the final concert (11 January) with Natalia Kukulska, Ralph Kaminski, Anna Karwan and Mietek Szcześniak.
The opening concert, featuring songs from the soundtrack of Skazany na bluesa (Destined for Blues), will take place on 7 January at Opera Nova. Performers will include Mary Spolsky and Tymon Tymański, with special guests Tomasz Kot and director Jan Kidawa-Błoński.
The festival program also includes film screenings, a competition for lyricists, competitions for amateur vocalists, and masterclass workshops for young creators.
The regional self-government’s subsidy amounts to 1.2 million PLN. The main festival events are held in the Marshal’s Opera Nova building.
Our region is a proud patron of the cinematic arts. The Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund, active for several years, is not only a tool for promoting the region and its economy, but also an instrument through which we support valuable film productions. Since 2022, we have been awarding the Marshal’s Film Prize. Among its laureates are Anna Dymna, Wojciech Smarzowski, Jerzy Skolimowski, Jan Holoubek, Jan Jakub Kolski, Stanisław Janicki, Krzysztof Zanussi, Leonard Pietraszak, Jan Englert, Katarzyna Figura, Daniel Olbrychski, Agnieszka Dulęba-Kasza, Magdalena Różdżka, Agnieszka Smoczyńska, and film music composer Jerzy Rogiewicz.
