Tourism Forum of the Vistula in Toruń

Under the patronage of Marshal Piotr Całbecki, the 4th Toruń Vistula Forum will take place tomorrow (February 7) in Toruń. This conference will focus on the possibilities of utilizing the cultural and natural heritage related to the river for tourism.

This year’s forum is dedicated to rafting traditions and serves as a summary of the Year of Rafting, celebrated in Toruń last year. The discussions will explore ways to use these traditions to develop cultural and educational tourism products. Among the invited speakers are museum experts, local government representatives, members of civil society organizations, and journalists. Beata Sawińska, President of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Tourism Organization, will present a lecture titled “Vistula Kujawsko-Pomorskie Constellations of Good Places.”

An accompanying event will be the premiere screening of “Raftsman,” a documentary by Ryszard Kruk. The film tells the story of reconstructing a medieval river transport boat. The protagonist, Marcin Karasiński, recreated the vessel based on a polychrome painting in one of Toruń’s churches and archaeological sources. He now organizes tourist cruises on the Vistula River with this boat.

The forum is organized by the Vistula Tourism Organization (which also brings us the Vistula Festival, the largest event of its kind in Poland), the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Tourism Organization, and the Toruń Local Tourism Organization.
