Muse of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra for the host of the region

The award, granted in recognition of his consistent support for the Toruń Symphony Orchestra (TOS) and his efforts to promote its artistic development, was received by Marshal Piotr Całbecki on Friday (13 June) during the concert marking the end of the orchestra’s artistic season.

 

When listening to the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, we experience art at its highest level. I congratulate you on forty-six seasons of activity and thank everyone who has accompanied and supported the orchestra during this time. Let us take care of institutions that create high culture that touches our sensibilities, especially in these difficult times. Art needs patronage,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki, thanking the orchestra for the TOS Muse statuette.

 

Subsidies from the regional government have enabled the orchestra to organise festivals, concerts with outstanding soloists and conductors, and educational projects, including the Karol Lipiński International Violin Competitions, a concert to mark the TOS’s 40th season, and Moniuszko Days to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. the Karol Lipiński International Violin Competitions, a concert to mark the 40th season of the TOS, Moniuszko Days to mark the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth, the Viva Beethoven Project to mark the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth, the International Festival ‘Nova Muzyka i Architektura’ (New Music and Architecture) and concerts Music and Cosmos 2023, Baroque Constellations, Musical Bridges – Poland/Lithuania.

 

This year, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra awarded eight TOS Muses in five categories:

The programme of Friday’s (13 June) event includes Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21, and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 in E flat major, ‘Romantic’. Georgijs Osokins, finalist of the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, performed with the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dainius Pavilionis.
