INFORMATION PORTAL OF THE MARSHAL'S OFFICE OF THE KUJAWSKO-POMORSKIE Region IN TORUŃ

On 7–8 March 2026, Toruń became the venue for one of the most important events in Poland devoted to the treatment of blood diseases. The meeting was held under the theme “Modern Treatment, Systemic Changes and Comprehensive Patient Care” and brought together physicians, experts, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and public institutions from across the country. Among the participants were Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Piotr Całbecki, Minister of Health Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, and Marcin Skonieczka, chair of the parliamentary group for hematology.

One of the key points of the event was a discussion panel featuring representatives of the medical community and policymakers. The conversation about the future of hematology and systemic changes included, in addition to the Marshal of the region and MP Marcin Skonieczka, Wioleta Tomczak, vice-chair of the Sejm Health Committee; Krzysztof Giannopoulos, president of the Polish Society of Hematologists and Transfusiologists; Ewa Lech-Marańda, national consultant in hematology; and Dominik Romiński, president of the Kierunek Zdrowie Association.

The event was organized by the Kierunek Zdrowie Association, which for more than two decades has supported people struggling with hematological diseases and their families. The congress created a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience on the latest medical advances as well as the challenges facing the healthcare system.

The program included numerous lectures and panel discussions devoted to, among other topics, innovations in blood cancer therapy, advances in diagnostics, immunotherapy and transplantation, as well as issues related to access to treatment and reimbursement of therapies. An important part of the program also focused on rehabilitation and psycho-oncology, as well as the everyday functioning of patients living with hematological diseases.
