To Ciechocinek in two months
The regional government, which organizes passenger rail transport in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region, will restore train connections to Ciechocinek starting December 14. Up to 13 pairs of trains will run daily to the spa town. Following a thorough modernization carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, the company managing the national rail infrastructure, trains will be able to travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h on the 7-kilometer section of line no. 245. The connections will be operated by Polregio until 2030.
— “I am convinced that this connection will contribute not only to the development of the Ciechocinek spa but also—by linking Ciechocinek and Toruń, two important tourist centers—to the growth of the entire region,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The investment includes the replacement of 12,000 railway sleepers, renovation of eight level crossings, and modernization of platforms in Ciechocinek, Odolion, and Aleksandrów Kujawski. The total cost of the project amounts to 47 million PLN.
After the renovation, passengers will be able to travel from Aleksandrów Kujawski to Ciechocinek in 10 minutes, and from Toruń in about half an hour. Starting in 2026, direct connections from Bydgoszcz will also be introduced.
The railway property management company PKP SA has allocated 15 million PLN for the renovation of the Ciechocinek railway station. Until the project is completed, passengers will be served by a temporary station building.
Rypin and Brodnica
From December 2026, at least six pairs of trains will operate regular, regionally funded passenger services on the Rypin–Brodnica line.
The return of trains is preceded by an infrastructure renovation carried out by PKP PLK on lines no. 33 and no. 208. The works include the replacement of rails and sleepers, the repair of level crossings and engineering structures, and the modernization of the Rypin station.
Thanks to this investment, trains will run at speeds of up to 120 km/h, and the travel time from Rypin to Jabłonowo Pomorskie will be reduced by 15 minutes. The contract for operating this line was awarded to Arriva RP.
From December 2026, Arriva RP will also operate the reactivated railway connection from Laskowice Pomorskie to Wierzchucin (Tuchola County).
