On October 16, village leaders (sołtysi) from Wąbrzeźno County, where 53 village councils operate across five municipalities, received Marshal’s Village Leader Badges. The meeting in Myśliwiec was attended by Dariusz Kurzawa, Member of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Board, and Katarzyna Lubańska, Vice-President of the Regional Parliament.

Marshal Piotr Całbecki: “Village heads are a very important link in local administration — the level closest to rural residents, directly rooted in local community life. That’s why we make every effort to ensure that those who serve in this civic role receive due recognition.”

In the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, there are 2,296 village heads (sołtyski and sołtysi). The regional government considers them key partners who support the Marshal’s Office in implementing, among other things, territorial development policies.

In December 2024, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Council of Village Leaders was established by the Voivodeship Board. This 120-member body, formed based on recommendations from municipal mayors (wójtowie), serves as an advisory council to the Marshal on matters concerning rural development.

Yesterday’s meeting at the Community Centre in Myśliwiec (Ryńsk Municipality) was another in a series of such events. The badges, established in 2023 to emphasize the importance and prestige of the village leader’s role, have previously been awarded to sołtysi from the Aleksandrów, Lipno, Golub-Dobrzyń, Rypin, Mogilno, Inowrocław, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Sępólno Krajeńskie, and Nakło counties.
