The Wait is Over in Ciechocinek!

The Regional Self-Government is taking over the historic saltwater pool in Ciechocinek, which has been out of service for over two decades and has been deteriorating year after year. Located in the Ciechocinek Brine Park, right next to the famous graduation towers and the main promenade, the pool will now be restored and made accessible to residents and spa guests.

We’ve got it! Dreams do come true! We will restore to the Pearl of Kujawy and bring back our region a facility that can become a source of pride. Not only are we saving a valuable monument from ruin, but we are also committing to reviving an exceptional recreational venue in the heart of our most renowned spa town. Ciechocinek is already a fantastic holiday destination, and a functioning pool will elevate its appeal even further. The first step is behind us, and now the action begins,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

What remains of the pool complex today are only fragments of the basin, small architectural features, and a fountain, barely visible through the overgrown vegetation. Over the past two decades, the state-owned property has seen several changes in its leaseholders and owners of its structures. The most recent owner was the private company Termy Ciechocinek, from whom the pool was purchased for 15 million PLN.

The relevant notarial deed was signed in early December, with formal acquisition set for January. From there, the restoration begins: rebuilding the site while preserving its historic character, followed by opening it to the public. We’ll be announcing timelines soon.

The famous thermal saltwater pool in Ciechocinek was constructed in the early 1930s, designed by architect Romuald Gutt and sanitary engineering specialist Aleksander Szniolis. It was a grand project in a modernist style. President Ignacy Mościcki attended its inauguration in 1932. The pool was closed in 2002 due to its deteriorating condition.

Restoring the pool is another significant regional investment in Ciechocinek. Previously, we revitalized the world-famous graduation towers, restoring their former glory.
