INFORMATION PORTAL OF THE MARSHAL'S OFFICE OF THE KUJAWSKO-POMORSKIE Region IN TORUŃ

The Regional Economic Development Council will meet today (10 September) for its inaugural meeting. The 41 members of the council, chaired by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, represent business, academic and local government circles, as well as those related to the labour market. Its mission will be to support the regional government in matters related to economic policy-making.

‘The aim is to take action to boost growth and development policy. We want to actively draw on the knowledge and experience of the experts sitting on the council. We expect them to act as ambassadors for their communities, sharing with us their views on economic issues and their key expectations,’ emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The regional government has also appointed an Expert Panel and working groups on smart specialisation in the region, which are closely linked to the council.

There are eight groups – the same number as the segments we have chosen as leading in our economy:

• food
• health and health tourism
• advanced materials and tools
• transport and mobility
• cultural heritage and creative industries
• digitisation and ICT services
• Green Deal
• industrial automation and economy 4.0

The role of these bodies will be to analyse the current economic situation and provide the regional government with ideas and conclusions that will allow it to make the most of current opportunities and avoid potential pitfalls. We believe that the panel and working groups will support the creation of innovative and competitive sectors of our economy. The first meetings will be held tomorrow (11 September).
