The reconstruction of the road from Rypin towards Mazowsze is nearing completion

We are modernising regional road No. 563 between Rypin and the region’s border. The section is 15 km long, and the investment is worth over PLN 100 million. The first stage of works between Stępowo and Okalewo is currently being completed, while works between Rypin and Stępowo are ahead of schedule. We are also carrying out several other road projects in the Rypin district.

“Road 563 is now one big construction site. Financial arrangements combining funds from several sources allow for comprehensive work along almost its entire length. The investment includes the construction of pavements for pedestrians, footpaths and cycle paths, and illuminated pedestrian crossings”, as Marshal Piotr Całbecki reminds us.

The route runs from Rypin towards Mława in the northern part of Mazowsze, connecting Rypin with the surrounding towns. The reconstruction has been divided into two tasks carried out under a ‘design and build’ procedure.

Stępowo – regional border

The contractor for this seven-kilometre section is a consortium of PRD Lipno and PBD Brodnica, which is currently completing the project. Investment value: PLN 45 million.

The road has been rebuilt and reinforced. A new bridge has been built in Okalewo, which is wider than the old crossing at this location and equipped with a pavement for pedestrians. A footpath and cycle path has been added, which will provide a safe route to school for primary school pupils in Okalewo. As part of the investment, intersections have been rebuilt, pedestrian crossings have been illuminated, and bus bays and stops have been added. The route has also gained permanent horizontal markings and new vertical signage. When settling the investment, we intend to use the high, 95% co-financing from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze.

Rypin – Stępowo

The section is 8 km long, the contractor is Strabag, and the contract value is PLN 60 million. Among other things, new surfaces are being laid on subsequent sections. At the same time, the necessary reconstruction of the power and telecommunications networks is being carried out. The investment is more than 50% complete and ahead of schedule. The road is designed for loads of 11.5 tonnes per axle and is equipped with shoulders, illuminated pedestrian crossings, bus bays and bus stops. Access to crossings and bays will be equipped with grooved elements (with protrusions and recesses) to facilitate orientation for blind and visually impaired people. Drainage ditches are being built along the road. The government-funded investment is scheduled for completion in 2026. The project also includes planting 66 trees along the road.

We will rebuild roads and illuminate crossings

This year, the regional self-government has also allocated funds for other road investments in the Rypin County. These include the modernisation of regional road No. 557 on the section between Kobrzyniec  and Janiszewo (length 6 km, cost PLN 12 million, project in progress) and the reconstruction of regional road No. 560 on the section between Dylewo and Zakrocz (length 6 km, cost PLN 12 million, project in progress). – Janiszewo (length 6 km, cost PLN 12 million, project in progress) and the reconstruction of regional road 560 between Dylewo and Zakrocz (length 0.5 km, cost PLN 1 million, project in progress).

We are also continuing the Marshal’s programme to improve lighting at pedestrian crossings. Documentation is currently being prepared, which will allow the first field work to begin soon. In the Rypin County, we will carry out such tasks on:

  • regional road No. 534 in Dobre, Ostrowite and Rypin
  • regional road No. 560 in Marianki, Starorypin, Rypin, Dylewo, Zakrocz and Urszulewo.

Work is also underway on the documentation and obtaining the necessary decisions for the construction of the Rypin bypass, which will bypass the town to the east and connect regional roads No. 560 and No. 563. The designer took into account the comments made during earlier public consultations and developed a new route variant (the one furthest from the town and bypassing Zakrocz and Dylewo). We are awaiting the issuance of a decision on the environmental conditions of the investment. The regional selfgovernment has obtained central funds for the construction of the bypass from the Government Road Development Fund in the amount of PLN 60 million. The investment, worth PLN 100 million, is being implemented in partnership with the town of Rypin, the municipality of Rypin and the district of Rypin.

Record spending

We are allocating PLN 2 billion to the regional programme for the modernisation of regional roads in the coming years. The road segment under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 is worth EUR 136 million, with a total of PLN 620 million obtained centrally.
