The new roundabout in the center of Golub-Dobrzyń will improve safety and streamline traffic
Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Marek Wojtkowski, member of the board of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, took part today (October 17) in the official opening of the new roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń. The circular intersection was built at the junction of Voivodeship Road No. 534 and Sokołowska Street. The project was implemented using European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027.
“This is an investment long awaited by the residents of Golub-Dobrzyń and drivers using the transit route. It improves safety and streamlines traffic at this key intersection,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “I would like to thank the mayor and the county executive for their commitment to this project. Only through such cooperation can we respond effectively to the real needs of our residents.”
The ceremony was also attended by Dominika Piotrowska, Mayor of Golub-Dobrzyń, and Jacek Foksiński, Golub-Dobrzyń County Executive.
The three-branch roundabout, 26 meters in diameter, connects Voivodeship Road No. 534 (Piłsudskiego Street and Szosa Rypińska) with the county road toward Sokołowo (Sokołowska Street). As part of the project, sidewalks, drainage, and electrical and telecommunication networks were rebuilt. On the northern side of the voivodeship road, a pedestrian and bicycle path was constructed. The northern side of the central island was designed to allow the passage of oversized vehicles. The work was carried out by Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych from Lipno.
The investment was implemented in cooperation with Golub-Dobrzyń County and the Municipality of Golub-Dobrzyń, which co-financed the preparation of the design documentation.
The total cost of the works amounted to PLN 4.1 million.
Further major investments in Golub-Dobrzyń County
In previous years, we rebuilt, among other things, the intersection of Voivodeship Roads No. 534 and 569 (Wodna, Hallera, and Zamkowa Streets) in Golub-Dobrzyń, equipping it with new traffic lights, dedicated left-turn lanes, and bus bays.

This year, we are also implementing further projects on county roads, including modernization of sections:
- DW No. 554 Sierakowo – Kowalewo Pomorskie (4 km)
- DW No. 569 Małszyce – Łążynek (3 km)
We are also preparing to install lighting at pedestrian crossings on Voivodeship Road No. 534 in Golub-Dobrzyń and Radomin.
We continue to work on the documentation necessary for the construction of the Golub-Dobrzyń bypass. Following public consultations, the north-eastern bypass variant was selected. We are awaiting the environmental decision, which will allow the completion of the design work.
Safety as a priority
The construction of the roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń is one of 23 planned projects under the Road Safety Improvement Program. Similar projects have already been completed in Sępólno Krajeńskie and Bysław (Tuchola County). Ongoing works include:
- Broniewice (Inowrocław County) – millions invested in road infrastructure
- Dyblin (Lipno County) – PLN 40 million for road modernization
- Barcin – four roundabouts under construction
Further projects are being prepared for implementation. The full list is available in the article Safe intersections on voivodeship roads.
Record road spending
Over the next few years, PLN 2 billion will be allocated to the Voivodeship Road Modernization Program.
Within the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027 (EFKP 2021–2027), our regional program for the new perspective, EUR 136 million will be spent on road investments, including the regional bypass construction program.
Additional central co-financing (approx. PLN 170 million for bypasses and about PLN 450 million for other road expansions) will also support these projects.
