The Marshal’s Hospital in Włocławek Makes Another Round of Purchases

The Marshal’s Regional Specialist Hospital in Włocławek continues to tick items off its shopping list as it implements an investment package worth PLN 50 million, financed from the National Recovery Plan (NRP). In recent days, the hospital has received a harmonic surgical scalpel, a surgical diathermy unit, and six modern platforms for invasive monitoring of cardiovascular function. In the near future, a second surgical robot, dedicated to neurosurgical procedures, will also be delivered.

Alongside the expansion of the hospital, the purchase of modern medical equipment is part of a broad modernisation of the facility, which is an important—and increasingly important—point on the region’s medical map,” emphasizes with satisfaction Piotr Całbecki.

All our investment projects are carried out with patients in mind. They should be diagnosed and treated using the latest medical knowledge and the most advanced technologies. This modern equipment would not have appeared here, however, without a very well-prepared, reliably described and highly rated project that we submitted under the National Recovery Plan. Thanks to KPO funding, we can comprehensively modernise the hospital’s diagnostic and therapeutic base and equip departments with hundreds of state-of-the-art devices,”
says Dariusz Szczepański, Director of the Regional Specialist Hospital in Włocławek.

Invasive monitoring of cardiovascular function is a set of advanced diagnostic techniques used, among others, in intensive care units and cardiology, enabling continuous and precise measurement of cardiovascular parameters. Six modern platforms for invasive haemodynamic monitoring have been installed in the hospital’s ICU. The value of this purchase amounts to PLN 1.7 million.

A latest-generation surgical diathermy unit for the obstetrics and gynaecology department cost PLN 160,000. This device uses high-frequency electric current for cutting tissue, removing pathological lesions and sealing (coagulating) blood vessels. Its advantages include reduced bleeding and faster wound healing after procedures.

The harmonic scalpel is an ultrasonic surgical instrument that simultaneously cuts tissue and coagulates blood vessels using very high-frequency vibrations (in this case 55,000 Hz, meaning the blade performs microscopic longitudinal vibrations 55,000 times per second). Protein denaturation here is caused by mechanical energy. The ultrasonic scalpel enables precise cutting, reduced blood loss, limited damage to healthy tissue, shorter operating times and, as a result, faster wound healing. Its cost exceeded PLN 250,000.
