Thank you, Holy Father!
Habemus Papam! These memorable words, spoken 47 years ago, announced the election of the 264th successor of Saint Peter to the Holy See — our compatriot, Karol Wojtyła. Thus began a pontificate that lasted nearly 27 years, marking the transition between the second and third millennia.
Marshal Piotr Całbecki: “Thank you, Holy Father, for the testimony of your life and for everything you have done for Poland, Europe, and the world.”
Today’s ceremony of laying flowers at the monument of John Paul II in Toruń was attended, among others, by Paweł Gulewski, Mayor of Toruń; Łukasz Walkusz, Chairman of the City Council; and Jan Wyrowiński, President of the Solidarni Toruń Pamięta Social Committee.
