Tender for renovation of line to Ciechocinek
A minimum of eight pairs of trains a day will run on the Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek railroad line scheduled for modernization from December 2025. Following an agreement signed in October between the regional government, the state-owned company PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP Polish Railways) and the municipal government of Poland’s most famous spa, PLK announced a tender that will select the contractor for the modernization work.
– The connection, which is returning after 14 years, will become a rail showpiece of the region. The best rolling stock at our disposal will run to Ciechocinek. I am convinced that the reactivation of the connection will be appreciated by both visitors and residents,” stresses Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – From mid-December 2025, it will be possible to reach the spa by direct train from Bydgoszcz and Toruń.
As part of an agreement signed on October 21 by Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Deputy Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska, as well as Maciej Kaczorek, representing PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (Polish Railways), and Ciechocinek Mayor Jarosław Jucewicz, PKP PLK declared to carry out a major overhaul of the seven-kilometer Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek railroad line. The tender for the implementation was announced in December, with the opening of bids soon.
In addition to rebuilding the track and turnouts, PKP PLK announces the renewal of platforms in Ciechocinek, Odolin and Aleksandrów Kujawski, as well as the modernization of traffic control devices and the catenary network.
Once the investment is completed, which is expected in August 2025, trains will be able to reach speeds of 120 kilometers per hour here.
