Summer in the city? Great!

This summer, children and young people in our region will certainly not be bored! The Marshal’s cultural institutions have prepared a rich programme of summer attractions – from art workshops to concerts and film screenings to time travel. It is the perfect combination of fun, education and developing passions.

Gallery and Children’s Creative Art Centre in Toruń invite you to a series of creative workshops including “Summer in a Backpack”, “Diving in Colour” and “Archipelago of Colours”. The classes take place both at the New Town Market Square and at the Mill of Culture.

Toruń’s Regional Centre for Cultural Animation (WOAK) focuses on performing arts, offering theatre and film workshops, improvisation and stage movement classes. In turn, the Ethnographic Museum encourages participation in meetings devoted to old crafts and folk games. What is more, the institution offers the possibility of organising classes on request. It is worth noting the holiday proposal for families with children prepared by the Museum of the Kujawy and Dobrzyn Region in Włocławek. As part of the ‘Summer Adventure in the Museum – Discover, Create, Play!’ series, workshops inspired by the local heritage and culture of the region will be held.

The holidays are also a great opportunity to take a peek behind the scenes at the theatre. The Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń invites you to take a tour to see places normally off-limits to the public and get to know the theatre from behind the scenes.

In Bydgoszcz, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Cultural Centre offers comics and ceramics workshops. The Witold Bełza Library, meanwhile, has prepared film screenings, quizzes and educational activities for children.

Toruń’s Ksiaznica Kopernikańska and its branches are inviting, among other things, to “reading in the clearing” and literary-art workshops for the youngest.

As every year, the Archaeological Museum in Biskupin takes children back to the time of the prehistoric settlement. The programme includes, among other things, weaving workshops and presentations of everyday life from centuries ago – a great opportunity to learn about history from the inside out.

The International Nova Music and Architecture Festival is underway in Toruń, hosting world-class artists. Concerts take place until the end of the summer holidays, and admission is free to some of them.

Lovers of classical music should also visit Szafarnia, where Chopin concerts are held every summer Sunday. At the Chopin Centre, young pianists present their artistry in recital encounters.

The full summer holiday offer, together with detailed information on dates and enrolment, is available on the websites of the individual institutions. The regional self-government runs 16 cultural institutions that offer a wide repertoire of holiday proposals.
