INFORMATION PORTAL OF THE MARSHAL'S OFFICE OF THE KUJAWSKO-POMORSKIE Region IN TORUŃ

Promoting social economy as a tool for activating and integrating people at risk of social exclusion into society and the labor market was the main goal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Social Economy Forum, held today (October 21) at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Center in Toruń.

The event, organized by the Regional Center for Social Policy in Toruń, was held under the patronage of Marshal Piotr Całbecki and President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska. The regional government was represented at the forum by Chairwoman Piniewska and Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.

“Social economy plays an important role in building a fair and sustainable economy. Its development requires institutional, financial, and skills-based strengthening. Meeting these challenges should make social enterprises a lasting pillar of a modern economy built on social values,” said Deputy Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski in his address.

During the forum – for the tenth time – certificates of the Social Economy Promotional Mark “Socially Responsible Purchase” were awarded to enterprises that, while conducting business and providing high-quality services, employ people at risk of social exclusion.

“The participation of your companies in our Social Economy Forum proves that in our region, economic development goes hand in hand with care for people and with creating opportunities for the broadest circles of society. For that, I thank you,”
added Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski in closing.

The program of the event also included a lecture by Władysław Grochowski, president of the Arche Group (owner of, among others, the Żnin Sugar Factory complex), a long-time advocate of social initiatives, as well as panel discussions and presentations on financing social economy in other European countries.
