At today’s (17 February) meeting, the regional parliament adopted a resolution to merge the currently operating three provincial occupational medicine centres into one structure with outpatient clinics in Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Włocławek, as well as a summary of the events of our Year of Courageous Women. The merger under preparation, which will result in the establishment of the regional Kujawsko-Pomorskie Occupational Medicine Centre (KPOMP), will allow the standardisation and improvement of the standards of medical services provided, a broader range of diagnostic tests and a reduction in costs (according to estimates, by PLN 900,000 per year, which should ensure the entity’s financial liquidity), with unabated employment of medical staff and greater availability of services. In the debate before the vote, it was emphasised, among other things, that this was only an administrative merger and that the decision to merge was linked to the poor financial situation of the centres in Bydgoszcz and Toruń.

The idea behind last year’s provincial Year of Courageous Women was to pay tribute to all known and unknown courageous women connected with our region, both past and present, with particular emphasis on those figures who have had and continue to have a significant impact on reality and the course of history.

The Sejmik approved the donation of a small plot of land belonging to the Regional Mental Health Hospital to the Świecie Municipality (to be used for the expansion of the local community self-help centre) and the adjustment of fees for driving licence examinations (small increases related primarily to inflation), as well as an amendment to the regulations on student scholarships in the Marshal’s ‘Primate of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Plus’ programme.
