Safe Roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń

In the presence of Marshal of the Region Piotr Całbecki, President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska, and Regional Executive Board Member Marek Wojtkowski, a contract was signed today (February 13) for the construction of a new roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń. The roundabout will be built at the intersection of Regional Road No. 534 and Sokołowska Street. Construction is set to begin in March as part of the regional road safety improvement program.

This is a long-awaited investment by the residents of Golub-Dobrzyń and drivers, which will improve safety and facilitate traffic flow at this critical intersection,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The three-entry roundabout, with a diameter of 26 meters, will connect Regional Road No. 534 (Piłsudskiego Street and Szosa Rypińska) with the county road to Sokołowo (Sokołowska Street). The project also includes upgrading sidewalks, drainage systems, electrical and telecommunication networks. On the northern side of the regional road, a pedestrian and bicycle path will be created. A cut in the island on the northern side will allow oversized vehicles to pass through.

The construction, valued at 3.9 million PLN, will be carried out by PRD Lipno, which submitted the most favorable bid during the tender process. Completion is scheduled for the fall.

The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Golub-Dobrzyń County and the Municipality of Golub-Dobrzyń, both of which co-financed the preparation of project documentation.

Major Road Investments in Golub-Dobrzyń County

In previous years, we modernized the intersection of Regional Roads No. 534 and 569 (Wodna, Hallera, and Zamkowa Streets) in Golub-Dobrzyń, equipping it with new traffic signals, left-turn lanes, and bus bays.

This year, additional roadworks in the county include:

  • Reconstruction of a 1.9 km section of Regional Road No. 554 between Sierakowo and Kowalewo Pomorskie
  • Reconstruction of a 2 km section of Regional Road No. 554 in Kowalewo Pomorskie
  • Reconstruction of a 3 km section of Regional Road No. 569 between Małszyce and Łążynek

Additionally, in the spring, pedestrian crossings on Regional Road No. 534 in Golub-Dobrzyń and Radomin will be upgraded with enhanced lighting.

We are also continuing work on the necessary documentation for the construction of the Golub-Dobrzyń bypass. After public consultations, the route bypassing the city from the northeast was selected. We are now awaiting an environmental decision to finalize the project concept.

Safety as a Priority

The construction of the roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń is one of 23 planned projects under the road safety improvement program. The first phase also includes:

  • Installation of traffic lights in Bysław (Tuchola County) – completed
  • Construction of a roundabout in Sępólno Krajeńskie (Sępólno County) – completed
  • Construction of a roundabout in Broniewice (Inowrocław County) – tender in progress

More projects are being prepared for implementation. The full list of planned road safety improvements is available under the Safe Intersections on Regional Roads initiative, funded by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze  2021-2027.

Record Investments in Roads

The regional road modernization program for the coming years will receive 2 billion PLN. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 (FEdKiP 2021-2027), our regional program for the new EU budget period, 136 million EUR will be allocated for road investments, including the regional bypass construction program. Additional central funding of approximately 170 million PLN will support bypass projects, with around 450 million PLN dedicated to other road expansion efforts.

Other Major Regional Road Projects Currently Underway
