Safe Jastrzębia Street in Żołędowo. Contract Signed

In the presence of Marshal Piotr Całbecki, Member of the Regional Executive Board Marek Wojtkowski, and Regional Councillor Anna Niewiadomska, a contract for the comprehensive modernization of Regional Road No. 244 in Żołędowo, Bydgoszcz County, was signed today (7 January). As part of the project, long-awaited sidewalks, cycling paths, and illuminated pedestrian crossings will be built, and a safe roundabout will be constructed at the intersection with the road leading to Kotomierz. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Osielsko Municipality, with support from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027.

“We are starting the year with a bang – with a road investment worth PLN 40 million in Bydgoszcz County,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Thanks to cooperation with the Osielsko Municipality, which will allocate PLN 12 million for this purpose, we will carry out this project in a comprehensive manner. The scope of work is very broad and also includes the replacement of all networks – telecommunications, water and sewage, and power – which makes this undertaking particularly complex. Another roundabout will also be built as part of the investment.”

The investment includes a thorough reconstruction of Jastrzębia Street, i.e. a more than 3-kilometre section of Regional Road No. 244 between Bydgoska Street and the St. Hubert Roundabout on Gdańska Road. The scope of works includes, among others:

  • reconstruction of telecommunications networks
  • construction of drainage
  • reconstruction of existing water and sewage networks
  • construction of a sanitary sewer network
  • reconstruction of the power network
  • reconstruction of road lighting
  • construction of power supply and road lighting

Along the rebuilt road, sidewalks with illuminated crossings and a pedestrian-and-cycle path will be constructed. An equally important element of the project is the construction of a roundabout at the junction of Jastrzębia, Bydgoska, and Leszczynowa Streets, which will replace the current dangerous intersection controlled by a “STOP” sign. European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze will be used to implement this part of the project.

The investment will be carried out by the company Marbruk, with which a contract worth PLN 38.6 million has been signed. Completion of all works is planned for 2027. After acceptance, the road will be covered by a 7-year warranty.

The contract was signed by Przemysław Dąbrowski, Director of the Regional Roads Authority, and Marcin Kwiatkowski, President of Marbruk. The meeting was also attended by Bydgoszcz County Governor Piotr Kozłowski, Osielsko Municipality Head Janusz Jedliński, and Osielsko Municipal Councillor Marek Protasewicz.

Last year, in Bydgoszcz County, we modernized the Aleksandrowo – Strzelce Górne section on the important Route No. 244, which runs north of Bydgoszcz. On the 1.5-kilometre stretch, the roadway and shoulders were renovated. Thanks to cooperation with the Dobrcz Municipality, a cycle path was also built. PKP PLK is preparing for the reconstruction of the viaduct along Regional Road No. 244 in Maksymilianowo. At the beginning of September last year, we signed a contract for the reconstruction of the road between Strzyżawa and Nowy Dwór. The total value of all road investments in Bydgoszcz County amounts to PLN 70 million. Preparations for further projects are underway.

Record Spending on Roads

PLN 2 billion will be allocated to the regional program for the modernization of regional roads in the coming years. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 (FEdKP 2021–2027), our regional program for the new financial perspective, EUR 136 million is earmarked for road investments, including our regional bypass construction program. For some tasks related to road infrastructure expansion, we will also use central government funding obtained (approx. PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other roads).
