Ryanair: Spain, a new destination from Bydgoszcz

Alicante on the Mediterranean Coast of Spain’s Costa Blanca is a new flight destination from Bydgoszcz. Starting in March, Ryanair planes will fly there twice a week. The Irish carrier announced this during today’s (January 14) press conference at Bydgoszcz Airport, which was attended by Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.

We are very pleased with this announcement of regular flights to a renowned Spanish resort. Each new connection brings the promise of improved financial results for Bydgoszcz Airport, and an expanded offer means the airport will better fulfill its role as a local yet important point on Europe’s transportation map,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Many residents of our region work on the Costa Blanca in sectors such as hospitality, gastronomy, orchards, vineyards, and ports. Additionally, a significant number of students from our region study at universities there. It would be great if this connection could become permanent,” said Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski during the press meeting.

Also present at the press conference were Monika Mejsner-Hermelin, President of Bydgoszcz Airport, and Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska, responsible for Ryanair’s operations in Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries.

Currently, planes from Bydgoszcz operate routes to Warsaw (via LOT Polish Airlines, six times a week) and the UK (Dublin, two London airports, Bristol, and Birmingham, all offered by Ryanair). Starting in April, Lufthansa will resume its connection to Frankfurt, one of Europe’s largest aviation hubs. Bydgoszcz Airport’s 2025 offer also includes vacation destinations, with charter flights to Marsa Alam, Antalya, Rhodes, Heraklion, Majorca, Paphos, and Enfidha.

It’s worth noting that the airport is constructing a photovoltaic power plant with a peak capacity of 100 megawatts (nearly 170,000 photovoltaic modules) over 130 hectares in the northern part of the airport. The energy produced is planned not only to meet the needs of the airport and terminals but also to be sold commercially.
