During today’s meeting (20 January), the Monitoring Committee for our 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programme (ROP) reviewed the implementation of the programme and approved the final report. Committee members received congratulatory letters from Marshal Piotr Całbecki and the President of the Regional Parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska, thanking them for their commitment and involvement in the Committee’s work.

– Thank you for the fact that we supported one another in this group to achieve the programme’s objectives despite difficulties. The region has changed beyond recognition during this time thanks to the implementation of public and private investment projects. We were able to do this because we had the funds – a solid EUR 4 billion, including own contributions and project preparation costs. A key element of EU grants is precisely the stimulation of development, the stimulation of initiatives, and ultimately encouraging investment using one’s own resources or funds from other sources, – said Marshal Piotr Całbecki as he opened the meeting.

Under the 2014-2020 ROP, the region had EUR 2 billion at its disposal: EUR 1.4 billion from the European Regional Development Fund (72%) for investments, and just over half a billion euros from the European Social Fund (28%) for soft social projects. Through calls for proposals and non-competitive selection procedures, beneficiaries submitted a total of 4,500 applications, with the value of approved applications exceeding EUR 3 billion. A total of 3,328 project funding agreements were signed, with a combined value of nearly EUR 3 billion and total EU co-financing of EUR 2 billion (106% of the allocation).

The final report approved today will now be submitted to the European Commission.
