Road Investments Around Rypin

We are modernizing regional road No. 563 between Rypin and the regional border. The value of the work carried out on 15 kilometers of the road amounts to nearly 100 million złoty. New pedestrian and bicycle paths, sidewalks, and a rebuilt bridge in Okalewo are being constructed. This year, several other road projects are also being implemented in Rypin County.

“Regional Road No. 563 is currently one of the largest construction sites in the region,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Thanks to securing funds from various sources, we will modernize almost the entire length of this route. The road will become significantly safer, also due to the addition of sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and illuminated crosswalks.”

This summer, we’ll drive across the Okalewo bridge

Regional Road No. 563 stretches 17 km within our province. It runs from Rypin towards Mława in northern Mazowieckie Region, connecting Rypin with towns across the municipality and the neighboring Skrwilno municipality. The road reconstruction is divided into two projects, both carried out under the “design and build” model:

  • Stępowo – regional border (7 km, contractor: PRD Lipno & PBD Brodnica consortium, investment value: 38 million złoty)

More than half of the work is already complete. The reconstruction of the Okalewo bridge is nearing completion—it is now wider and features a sidewalk. The structure will also have barriers, drainage, and lighting. Almost all sidewalk and pedestrian-bicycle path construction has been finished. The remaining road sections between Okalewo and Stępowo are being reconstructed. The project also includes rebuilt intersections, illuminated pedestrian crossings, bus bays, and access paths. The construction will be completed by summer.

  • Rypin – Stępowo (8 km, contractor: Strabag, investment value: 57 million złoty)

The contractor is currently carrying out demolition work and upgrading energy and telecom networks. The road will be strengthened to support 11.5 tons per axle, and new shoulders, illuminated crosswalks, and bus stops will be added. Paths will feature tactile paving for the visually impaired. The project, financed by government funds, will be completed in 2026 and includes the planting of 250 trees along the route.

More Road Upgrades and Safer Crosswalks

This year, the regional self-government has allocated funds for additional road improvements in Rypin County, including:

  • Modernization of Regional Road No. 557 (Kobrzyniec – Janiszewo section)
  • Reconstruction of Regional Road No. 560 (Dylewo – Zakrocz section)

These roads will receive new surfaces, better drainage, and improved signage. The work will be conducted without road closures or detours and is scheduled for spring and summer.

Illuminated Crosswalks

We continue our pedestrian crossing illumination program. Documentation is being prepared, and construction will begin this summer. In Rypin County, illuminated crossings will be added along:

  • Regional Road No. 534 (in Dobre, Ostrowite, and Rypin)
  • Regional Road No. 560 (in Marianki, Starorypin, Rypin, Dylewo, Zakrocz, and Urszulewo)

A Bypass for Rypin

Plans are progressing for the Rypin Bypass, which will divert traffic east of the city and connect Regional Roads No. 560 and 563. The revised route avoids Zakrocz and Dylewo based on public consultations. The environmental permit is pending, and the regional self-government has secured 60 million złoty from the National Road Development Fund for this 100-million-złoty project, co-financed by Rypin City, Rypin Municipality, and Rypin County.

Record Spending on Roads

Over the next few years, 2 billion złoty will be invested in Regional Road modernization. As part of the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027, 136 million euros will go toward road projects, including regional bypass construction. Additional 620 million złoty has been secured from central government funding for bypasses and road expansion projects.

Major Ongoing Road Projects

  • Modernization of Regional Road No. 268 (Brzezie – Brześć Kujawski, Włocławek County)
  • Construction of the Mogilno Bypass (Regional Road No. 254, Mogilno County)
  • Reconstruction of Regional Road No. 251 (Pturek – Młodocin)
