Regional trains for holidays
The bathing areas in Chmielniki, Kamionki and Bory Tucholskie are among the most popular in the region, while the beaches on the Hel Peninsula and in Kołobrzeg are among the most attractive in Poland. We have good news before the holidays. You can quickly and comfortably reach these places not only from the provincial capitals, but also from other towns, using our regional passenger rail services.
“We have an interesting and extensive range of connections tailored to the needs of travellers. I am convinced that Kołobrzeg, Hel, Szczecin and the beaches and resorts of our region, thanks to good cooperation with carriers and neighbouring local governments, will be a frequent destination for the province’s residents this summer,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
To the lakes
From Bydgoszcz, you can reach the popular bathing area on Lake Jezuickie in Chmielniki by train in about 17 minutes. All trains also stop at the Bydgoszcz Błonie stop. There are as many as 13 pairs of trains running on this route.
Kamionkowskie Lake is the most popular summer holiday destination for the residents of Toruń. Trains stop at the Kamionki Jezioro railway station. The journey time is about 20 minutes. There are up to 11 pairs of trains running on this route, which you can board from all Toruń stations: Toruń Główny, Miasto and Wschodni.
Another new feature of the summer timetable is the ‘Borsuk’ train, which will run daily during the holidays from Toruń through the picturesque Bory Tucholskie and Wdecki Landscape Park to Czersk (Pomeranian Province), stopping at stations in the popular towns of Tleń and Osie, among others.
To the seaside
During the summer holidays, passengers using regional rail connections can also travel to holiday resorts on the Baltic Sea.
‘Latarnik’ is the first holiday train this year, which will take passengers from Bydgoszcz Główna station to Hel on 19 June. The train will stop at popular holiday resorts on the Hel Peninsula and at railway stations in the Tri-City. Residents of Grudziądz will also be able to use the connection, with an additional train taking them to Laskowice Pomorskie for a change.
On the first day of the summer holidays (28 June), the seasonal weekend train ‘Rybitwa’ from Toruń to Kołobrzeg will return to the tracks. Operated by Polregio, the service has been relaunched thanks to the cooperation of the regional governments of three voivodships: Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie. This offer will be complemented by a direct train to Kołobrzeg running on weekdays, which will remain in the timetable permanently.
The ‘Barnim’ train, also co-financed by the regional governments of Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie voivodships, runs from Bydgoszcz Główna station to Szczecin Główny station. The ‘Barnim’ allows passengers to travel to the capital of the West Pomeranian Province and the Baltic Sea.
In 2025, the regional government will subsidise regional passenger transport with PLN 237 million. The regional government also owns 75% of the trains serving passenger connections in our region. We have thirty-three vehicles at our disposal.
