Regional Self-Government Supports Volunteer Fire Brigades (OSP)

Fire and rescue vehicles were handed over on Saturday (13 December) at the Training Centre of the Regional Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Łubianka to volunteers from 19 OSP units across the region. The purchases, responding to the needs and expectations of the units, are part of a project worth PLN 43 million, financed under our regional programme.

The procurement list for the project Safe Kujawy and Pomorze, coordinated by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Branch of the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades, includes 129 items for 107 fire units throughout the region. It was developed as a result of local consultations conducted in counties and municipalities.

“Consistent support for rescue services has been part of the regional self-government’s policy for many years. Thanks to this, the level of equipment saturation of units in our region is already very high. We have well-developed mechanisms for such actions, which is why we are confident that the purchases being made are well thought out and necessary. In recent years, we have helped to purchase more than one hundred fire engines; every third OSP unit now has new vehicles, and the average age of vehicles is eight years. If I add that we also co-finance the renovation, upgrading and construction of fire stations – often linked with rural community centres – we can see the full scope of the regional self-government’s intervention in this area. We consider this our duty, the fulfilment of our mission to ensure the safety of the residents of our region. I am pleased that, thanks to EU funds, we can implement this so effectively,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki ahead of the ceremony, which took place in front of the Marshal’s Office.

The meeting with OSP firefighters was also attended by, among others, Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska, Vice-Voivode Piotr Hemmerling, Vice-President of the Regional Parliament Katarzyna Lubańska, Mayor of the Łubianka Municipality Dagna Całbecka, representatives of local governments, Regional Commander of the State Fire Service Senior Brigadier Rafał Świechowicz, and Executive Director of the Regional Branch of the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades Piotr Tomaszewski.

All purchases under the Safe Kujawy and Pomorze project:

23 sets of electric hydraulic rescue tools

Funding comes from our regional programme European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze (FEdKP 2021–2027) as well as budgetary funds from municipalities and the State Fire Service.

Under the current FEdKP programming period, PLN 100 million has been allocated to support OSP communities. Two calls for proposals for investment projects in OSP facilities were held, with PLN 31 million available. The first contracts have been signed and new fire stations are under construction.
