Regional Parliament Session on Monday

Today’s session (September 29) was preceded by the ceremonial opening of the exhibition “Extermination of People with Mental Disorders in Occupied Poland. The Beginning of Genocide”, authored by Tadeusz Nasierowski of the Polish Psychiatric Association. The exhibition is presented as part of the observances of the National Day of Remembrance of the German Crime in Pomerania 1939 and can be viewed in the lobby of the Marshal’s Office.

The meeting began with honors for the village of Kłopot in Inowrocław County, which won the competition for the most beautiful harvest wreath during this year’s Presidential Harvest Festival in Warsaw, having earlier taken the top prize at the provincial harvest festival in Myślęcinek. Representatives of the village received the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis as well as the “Sowers of Tradition” award. Regional Parliament members listened to reports on the activities of the Youth Parliament of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and information concerning the implementation of this year’s agreements of the regional branch of the National Health Fund.

A resolution was adopted to award the Honorary Badge of Merit for the Voivodeship to Magdalena Łubieńska of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society. “Since 1968, she has been an active member of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society, and her activity is not limited solely to serving as a guide, but also includes broad cooperation in the fields of education, cultural heritage protection, and support for community initiatives,” reads the justification.

The assembly also adopted a position in support of the initiative to establish the Włocławek University of Technology, building on the achievements of the State Academy of Applied Sciences in Włocławek. Elevating the status of the city’s only technical university to that of a polytechnic, along with further development plans for the institution, will address the needs of both the current and future labor market in this part of the region.

The assembly approved subsidies for the City of Toruń government to fund the conservation of 90,000 artifacts in the collections of the District Museum in Toruń, as well as the purchase of specialist equipment for the City Hospital (equipment for CAR-T gene therapy, regarded as a breakthrough in the treatment of hematologic cancers).

The session also addressed environmental issues. The assembly adopted the Waste Management Plan until 2028 (with a perspective for the years 2029–2034). Documents of this type must be updated at least once every six years.
