During Monday’s (August 25) session, the Regional Parliament approved subsidy rates for carriers operating the reinstated railway connections, including the line to Ciechocinek. The final work is underway on the railway package for our region, which will serve as a development strategy for infrastructure and the regional passenger rail network through 2035.

The reinstated railway connections (Bydgoszcz – Toruń – Otłoczyn – Ciechocinek, Rypin – Brodnica, and Laskowice Pomorskie – Wierzchucin) will be operated by Polregio and Arriva, currently the providers of all regional train services in our area. The annual subject subsidies just adopted are designated for these companies.

“The subsidy rates are aligned with those applied in regional passenger rail transport on currently served routes. The adopted resolution is a formality, the outcome of earlier decisions in this matter. Major modernization investments are currently being carried out before the reintroduction of services on these lines. And these are not the only railway infrastructure projects in our region, which allows us to plan the future in this field with greater confidence. The assumptions for the development of this infrastructure and regional train services will be included in the railway package – an agreement that we will most likely conclude in September with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the state-owned company PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, which manages the national railway network. This document, our strategy in this area until 2035, is nearly complete. It will, among other things, form the basis for planning the regional budget as well as the allocation of EU funds, including those managed by the government,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki ahead of Monday’s session.

The Parliament also approved subsidies for municipalities to maintain drainage facilities. The support, which will ultimately be managed by water companies, was granted to the municipalities of Dąbrowa Biskupia, Chełmża, Solec Kujawski, Jabłonowo Pomorskie, Więcbork, Płużnica, and Ryńsk.

During the session, councillors also heard the report of the regional sanitary inspector on public health safety in the region and the report of the regional environmental inspector on inspections of facilities of key importance in our region.
